Thai design goes online: DITP unveils ‘T-STYLE: Thai Spirit’ project

Initiated by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP),  T-STYLE: Thai Spirit is a curated collection of Thailand’s leading designers and manufacturers that have a potential to grow further in the global market. T-STYLE (or Thailand Style) highlights the concept of ‘Thai Spirit’, a shared mentality that is strongly present in certain Thai design products. With this unique identity, the products can be the design solutions for the future.

The collection can be divided into two groups, which are ‘T-STYLE Brands’, leading lifestyle product manufacturers, and ‘T-STYLERS’ which present internationally recognized Thai designers. The collection is empowered by a list of winners of the Design Excellence Award (DEmark), one of Asia’s most prestigious design awards known as ‘the Oscars of the Thai design industry’’.  The two collections share one common goal, which is to promote Thai design in the global market through publications in Thai and international media and exhibitions in world-class showcases.

In every crisis, there is an opportunity. Promoting an online presence for Thailand’s design industry is what we have been concerned about for a while. With more physical barriers for international trade fairs during the COVID-19 outbreak, this is a right time for digital adaptation. Among many global design fairs, Maison & Objet is one of the most important and has done a great job with the Maison & Objet and More (MOM) digital platform. This is why we decided to launch this campaign with them. 


As part of T-Style or Thailand Style, ‘T-Style: Thai Spirit’ showcases the agility of Thai manufacturers and designers, something that the world is looking for at the moment.  We have high quality manufacturers and creative designers, and with these people we can create and develop products that match the changing needs of consumers in these uncertain times. We also have a group of designers who can transfer the Thai spirit to authentic products with unique characters.
